Fallout 3

I finally beat Fallout 3. 87 hours, 41 achievements. The only achievements I missed where the neutral, evil levels, 2 evil quests, and the 50 speech wins achievement(I had 46). I found all 20 bobbleheads, read about 125 books, found a ton of special "named" weapons, and uncovered almost all of the games locations on the map.

So what did I think of it? Well, it was definitely worth the money. I can see myself playing it again, but not for awhile. By the time it was over, I was ready for it to be done.

There were things I loved. Nice large map, tons to explore, lots of special items to collect, a portable nuke launcher that was fun to fire, and there were times where it had that Fallout feel to it. I enjoyed a lot of the quests and random encounters in the world, and the levelling system Fallout uses rocks and more RPG's should use it.

Things I didn't like? It would be nice if Bethesda would spend some of the money they have been making and hire more people to design indoor locations. Oblivion was even worse with this. Every building was the same as the one I went to previously, the factories were all the same, caves were all the same, etc. More voice actors would have been nice as well. Again though, didn't seem as bad as Oblivion.

Now one of my biggest complaints. The location. Fallout 1 took place in California. Fallout 2 took place in Southern Oregon and Northern California. Both games had towns that correspond to real locations, but they were out of the way and would not have been hit in a nuclear war Fallout 3 takes place in and around Washington D.C. Most of the city looked like it was just suffering from 200 years of neglect. I mean seriously, are we to believe that the Capitol Building would still be standing? It was just.. damaged a bit. I am sorry but the city would have been flattened. This really bugged me.

And the ending, well, let's just say that it was not up to the usual Fallout standard. It basically cuts to a series of still images with Ron Perlman doing his usual narration. It is fine, but in the ending to Fallout 1, it gives the ultimate fate of every important person you encountered, some of it good and some bad, where as this didn't. I suppose it could be due to the DLC due in March that extends the game and supposedly gives the "real" ending.

I know the ending is making me bitch more than I should. I was glued to the game and really didn't play anything else until I had beaten it.
