A Visit From an Old Friend
When a song is new, you can't get enough of it. You can listen to it several times a day and not get bored or sick of it. It is a great feeling, but sadly, it is very short lived. Pretty soon, you change the radio station because you have heard it too many times. You skip the song when it comes up on the cd, or you don't bother to load the MP3 anymore.
Over time, you forget about the song. On some occasions, you forget about the band as well.
So, years later, you are listening to the radio, and a tune comes on that sounds familiar. Within seconds you are excited because the song you once loved is being played again, and you get that feeling you had back when it was new.
It feels like a visit from an old friend. Years have passed, but some things have never changed. For a few minutes, it takes you back to when it was new.
In this case, it was when I was a senior in High School.
Will I wake up some dream I made up
No I guess it's reality
What will chance us or will we mess up our only chance to connect with a dream
(chorus)
Say a prayer for me X3
I'm buried by the sound
Of a world of human wreckage
In a world of human wreckage X2
Where i'm lost and I'm found and I can't touch the ground
I'm plowed into the sound
To see wide open with a head that's broken
Hang a life on a tragedy
Plow me under the ground that covers the message that is the seed
(chorus)
Say a prayer for me X3
I'm buried by the sound
Of a world of human wreckage
In a world of human wreckage X2
Where i'm lost and I'm found and I can't touch the ground
I'm plowed into the sound
Will I wake up some dream I made up
No I guess it's reality
Sponge - Plowed
