I *grumble* like Harry Potter. *groan*
I always managed to avoid Harry Potter. I paid no attention to the books, and completely ignored the existence of the movies. I don't really know why. Must have been lack of interest in what I heard was a kids book/movie.
We used to belong to Columbia House, you know, that company that you buy 6 DVD's from for a penny, and then buy 6 more over the next 2 years. They will send you a DVD every month unless you tell them not to, and then bill you for them. Well, they sent us a few that we forgot to send back, and by the time we.. ok.. by the time I realized it, it was too late. One was Black Hawk Down, which I wanted to own anyway. The other was the first Harry Potter movie. It sat on our shelf for several months.
One night, due to the lack of quality programming on cable television, we decided to put in a movie. We could not decide, so we decided to put in this Harry Potter movie that had been gathering dust on our shelf.
I liked it.
Seriously. I thought it was good.
No no really.. I am not lying.
I was very surprised by this. I rented the second movie, and I liked it too.
So, I will soon be selling off what little is left of my soul, and will eventually start reading the books.
I say eventually, because I have a lot of books to get through, and I have not been reading as much as I used to. I fell for the hype behind the Wheel of Time books. You see, I read the first book, took a break, and then read the rest of them without stopping until I finished #9. Book #10 was not out yet, so I took the opportunity to read other books.
Book #10 came out, and of course, I bought it and finished it over a week later.
FUCK THAT BOOK! FUCK ROBERT JORDAN!
It isn't often I finish a book feeling pissed off(I read a part of the Holy Bible in a motel room once).
That was 650 pages of, NOTHING! Nothing happened in that book. Nothing was accomplished. It was nothing but crap with another cliffhanger at the end.
Since finishing this, I have had very little patience for books, which is bad because I do enjoy reading.
I will never recommend the Wheel of Time to anyone ever again.
