Today, we are using new order tracking software. The old system had its flaws(of which there were very many), but we were comfortable with it, because we knew it. We knew its quirks and how to get around them. It was fairly fast(most of the time). We hated it, yet loved it at the same time. We were all excited when we learned that it would be replaced last year.
It was supposed to roll out a few weeks ago, but there were still several issues with it that rendered it unusable. It officially rolled out today. They converted everything from our old database to the new one on Sunday morning, so today, we would be able to use this new and improved system.
I knew things were not going very well the moment I walked in this morning. I could see it in the looks on everyones faces. For one, it is very slow. Slower than the old. And did I mention it is web-based? No, well.. it is web based. I have to view it in IE, and IE does not have a built in tabbed browsing function, unlike Mozilla. Actions are not working, so in order to get something assigned, or need to send a message to the tech that owns the case, I need to use email. Not nearly as efficient as sending an action. Actions will supposedly be added soon, although it would have nice to get that function included BEFORE they decided to roll this out.
Will I eventually have the same love/hate relationship that I had with the old system? Time will tell. For now, I will continue to wait for this fucking thing to catch up to me.
